We arrived in Hong Kong a few minutes early and set out to find a lounge.  The closest lounge to the gate where J and I would be departing from was The Cabin.  M would be on a flight an hour later but stayed with us while we waited.

The lounge is not on the main floor of the airport but there is a little cabin built around an elevator and stairs that lead down to the lounge.  When we stepped off the elevator I was immediately struck by how dark the reception area was.  There were reception desks on either side as we left the elevator and the staff seemed to have lighting at desk level but with the dark walls and gray day outside there wasn't a lot of natural light in that particular area.

The Cabin isn't all that deep from the windows to the back of the room but it is quite long and had seating areas extending both ways from the entrance so it is deceptively large.  Fortunately the windows help provide natural light to the rest of the lounge so it wasn't as dark as the entry area.

There are giant windows overlooking the tarmac throughout the lounge so if watching airport operations is fun to you this might be interesting.  The planes seemed to be all Cathay Pacific or their subsidiary Cathay Dragon and all shorthaul planes so there wasn't a whole lot of variety in what we were seeing.
View from The Cabin

The lounge had several food areas set up both with what I think of as traditional breakfast foods and items that may be traditional for other cultures but that I don't usually see at breakfast like cold cuts, salad, cheeses and dumplings.  Then again at a major international airport like this one, who knows what time of day it feels like to some passengers - regardless of what the clock says - so a wide variety is preferable.

There were lots of types of seating areas.  Some had direct views of the tarmacs while others were in groups or set up for singles.

There was also a large bar though in the 6 AM hour I don't recall seeing anyone wanting alcohol.

I was a little brain-fried after the long flight and didn't think to check out the shower rooms.  I was glad I'd brought all my converters because Hong Kong uses a different plug type than China does so I was still able to recharge my electronics.

At this hour of the day The Cabin was a very quiet place to stretch our legs, get a nibble if we wanted and just enjoy not being confined to a plane.  Though I'd like to try a different lounge just for variety's sake if I ever get to return, I would be fine with stopping here again too.
